Installing and configuring MPEG audio players
To listen to the audio content you will need to obtain and install a software MP3 player; these players are freely available from a number of sources. In developing this site we have found the following players to be easy to install and configure and to be reliable:
- Winamp for Windows95/98/NT - a freeware audio player that supports many audio formats including MP3 files.
- RealPlayer 7 Basic for Win95/98/NT, MacOS, Linux - the basic player is free for use from RealNetworks.
You will also find many other software MP3 players at MP3.Com.
Technical note on Windows Media Player
At this time we do not recommend the use of Microsoft's Windows Media Player as this will not play MP3 files streamed over HTTP - it insists on downloading the entire audio file to your local disk before playing it. We would be happy for Microsoft to advise otherwise.
Support and advice
Please note that we cannot provide support and advice on the installation, configuration or use of any of these software players, you should obtain this through the software supplier.
